FUNNY SCRIPTURES

FUNNY SCRIPTURESIsaiah 28:20
The bed is too short to stretch out on,
the blanket too narrow to wrap around you.

Mark 14:51-52
A young man, wearing nothing but a linen garment, was following Jesus. When they seized him, 52 he fled naked, leaving his garment behind.

John 21:7
Then the disciple whom Jesus loved said to Peter, “It is the Lord!” As soon as Simon Peter heard him say, “It is the Lord,” he wrapped his outer garment around him (for he had taken it off) and jumped into the water.

. . . . . He could not be caught swimming naked.

2 Kings 9:30
Jezebel Killed
30 Then Jehu went to Jezreel. When Jezebel heard about it, she put on eye makeup, arranged her hair and looked out of a window.

Ha ha ha!

No wonder eye make up and hair do have been associated with “Jezebelism” in the earlier days.

. . . . She would not dare die looking ugly

DARE NOT ROCK UP IN HELL WITHOUT MAKE UP

HA HA HA. It could make an interesting sermon title “The last make up before hell”

WOW TALK ABOUT PREPARE TO MEET THY GOD

Amos 4:12
“Therefore this is what I will do to you, Israel,
and because I will do this to you, Israel,
prepare to meet your God.”

The preparation must be inside

The rich fool prepared economically only

Jezebel prepared only externally facially

THE PROPHET OF BEER

Micah 2:11
If a liar and deceiver comes and says,
‘I will prophesy for you plenty of wine and beer,’
that would be just the prophet for this people!

THE GIFT OF GIVING

THE GIFT OF GIVINGTHE INDESCRIBABLE GIFT AVAILABLE TO ALL

2 Corinthians 9:15
Thanks be to God for his indescribable gift!

THE GIFT OF GIVING

FAST FACTS FROM 2Cor 9

1.    GIVING TRIGGERS SOME FORM OF REWARD

2 Corinthians 9:6
Remember this: Whoever sows sparingly will also reap sparingly, and whoever sows generously will also reap generously.

Note that all in this passage are givers, some sparingly, others generously.  But all are givers and none is left out of the reaping pleasure.  YOU ALWAYS GET SOMETHING OUT ….. not like our famous insurer…  The difference is in the scale as determined by the measure used in giving.
May none of us be left outside the pleasure of seeing returns from seeds sown.
May the spirit of generosity outclass every consideration of the tight budgets

2.   IT’S VALUE BEFORE GOD IS DETERMINED BY ATTITUDE

2 Corinthians 9:7
Each of you should give what you have decided in your heart to give, not reluctantly or under compulsion, for God loves a cheerful giver.

Meaning we don’t just give because we must, but the attitude adjustment happens when the revelation hits and an awareness of the multifaceted impact of this act on all three involved is heightened.  GOD, you the giver and the one who ultimately receives your gift.

3.   GIVING ALIGNS US TO THE ULTIMATE DIVINE ENABLEMENT

2 Corinthians 9:8
And God is able to make all grace abound toward you, that you, always having all sufficiency in all things, may have an abundance for every good work.

In Christ the ability to be or do anything good is attributed to an invisible yet strong enabling force called Grace.   It is the one thing we pray for, desire and align ourselves to receive.    Once Grace is evident and abundant,  no mountain’s too high, no valley too low.  There’s nothing we cannot achieve, there’s hardly any inconvenience  we cannot endure as we take strides towards our destiny assignments.

4.   GIVING IS AN EXIBIT OF RIGHTEOUSNESS

2 Corinthians 9:9-10
As it is written:
“He has dispersed abroad,
He has given to the poor;
His righteousness endures forever.”
Now may He who supplies seed to the sower, and bread for food, supply and multiply the seed you have sown and increase the fruits of your righteousness,

While it is known that NOT all generosity springs from pure motives it is nonetheless true that WHEREVER THERE IS LOVE AND RIGHTEOUS GIVING WILL BE ABUNDANT.

Psalms 37:25-26
I was young and now I am old,
yet I have never seen the righteous forsaken
or their children begging bread.
They are ALWAYS GENEROUS and lend freely;
their children will be a blessing.

5.   GIVING IS A PROMOTER

2 Corinthians 9:10
Now he who supplies seed to the sower and bread for food will also supply and increase your store of seed and will enlarge the harvest of your righteousness.

In life there are two levels of living before GOD.  The bread eaters and the seed sowers.    All the living start off as bread eaters, that simply means we have need for constant daily supplies and GOD is faithful ever desiring to supply our daily bread.
But seed sowers are of a different class!   Their focus is not the belly but the future.   Not instant gratification but to make a difference in the lives of others.

6.    GIVING FORTIFIES THE CIRCLE OF BLISSFUL EXISTENCE

 2 Corinthians 9:11
You will be enriched in every way so that you can be generous on every occasion, and through us your generosity will result in thanksgiving to God.

While others talk of the vicious circle of poverty, where things keep getting complicated as a result of lack, it is encouraging to discover there is a different kind of circle where the giver does not only get back in time what they temporarily parted with out of love and consideration for others but they get back more in quantities and kind.    Where money comes back as more money plus opportunities to do what even money could not do.

7.    GIVING INSPIRES VARIOUS EXPRESSIONS OF HEARTFELT GRATITUDE

2 Corinthians 9:12
This service that you perform is not only supplying the needs of the Lord’s people but is also overflowing in many expressions of thanks to God.

Imagine a needy child praying to GOD saying, ” if you help me with my fees LORD, I’ll serve you for the rest of my days.”   Or a hungry person crying “LORD, please help and I will return to you and be as helpful as I possibly can in your work.”

8.   GIVING IS PROOF OF OBEDIENCE

 2 Corinthians 9:13
Because of the service by which you have proved yourselves, others will praise God for the obedience that accompanies your confession of the gospel of Christ, and for your generosity in sharing with them and with everyone else.

Often people desire to do good but when the means to do so reach their hands, other competing interests   such as personal needs tend to quickly swallow their seed and overwhelm the desire to put others first.   It takes obedience to give to others in service to GOD even before our very own screaming needs and desires.

9.   GIVING INSPIRERS EFFECTIVE HEARTFELT PRAYERS.

2 Corinthians 9:14
And in their prayers for you their hearts will go out to you, because of the surpassing grace God has given you.

James 5:16b AMP
The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].

Do you want GOD to raise prayer power to your advantage at your point of need, be a generous giver.    A woman died in the book of Acts.  And the tears that drew help and raised her back to life were inspired by the generosity that stemmed from her handiwork.

 Acts 9:36-41
There was a believer in Joppa named Tabitha (which in Greek is Dorcas). She was ALWAYS DOING KIND THINGS   for others and helping the poor. About this time she became ill and died. Her body was washed for burial and laid in an upstairs room. But the believers had heard that Peter was nearby at Lydda, so they sent two men to beg him, “Please come as soon as possible!”

So Peter returned with them; and as soon as he arrived, they took him to the upstairs room. The room was filled with widows who were weeping and showing him the coats and other clothes Dorcas had made for them. But Peter asked them all to leave the room; then he knelt and prayed. Turning to the body he said, “Get up, Tabitha.” And she opened her eyes! When she saw Peter, she sat up! He gave her his hand and helped her up. Then he called in the widows and all the believers, and he presented her to them alive.

10.   GIVING IS ITSELF A GIFT

2 Corinthians 9:15
Thank God for this gift too wonderful for words!

When your heart begins to muse on ways to Bless others and help in some way, the gift of giving is stirring inside.  Act with courage.
When personal considerations shout “me first!” Answer back with this assurance, “better days are just ahead”

Givers gain!  No giver will be left behind

Proverbs 11:25
A generous person will prosper;
whoever refreshes others will be refreshed.

PENTECOST PRAYERS

PENTECOST PRAYERSPENTECOST PRAYER

THOUGHTS AROUND THE PRAYER POINTS

  1. PRAYER FOR UNITY

Acts 2:1

When the day of Pentecost came, they were all together in one place.

In our discussions it became clear that the Holy Spirit had prioritized the atmosphere of unity among those who had been given the instruction to wait in Jerusalem for the great outpouring.   Acts1:8

At this time of many divisions among us fostered by the evils of racism, it would be a great testimony to see the true church reaching out to one another beyond boundaries of race.

  1. while the leader of this prayer point is at liberty to mention in prayer other  things that may be part of the divisive strategy of the enemy among us – the race one remains a critical one among us.

It is also abundantly clear that the ministry of conciliation is NOT a government program but a gift / responsibility of the born again believers / ministers

2 Corinthians 5:18-19

All this is from God, who reconciled us to himself through Christ and GAVE US THE MINISTRY OF RECONCILIATION:  that God was reconciling the world to himself in Christ, not counting people’s sins against them. And HE HAS COMMITTED TO US THE MESSAGE OF RECONCILIATION.

John 17:11

I will remain in the world no longer, but they are still in the world, and I am coming to you. Holy Father, protect them by the power of your name, the name you gave me, SO THAT THEY MAY BE ONE AS WE ARE ONE.

  1.     PRAYER FOR A FRESH OUTPOURING OF THE SPIRIT

Just as HE came on the day of PENTECOST

Acts 2:4

All of them were filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak in other tongues as the Spirit enabled them.

And subsequently on the day when they were praying, threatened by the Jewish leaders

Acts 4:21

After further threats they let them go. They could not decide how to punish them, because all the people were praising God for what had happened…..

Acts 4:23-24

On their release, Peter and John went back to their own people and reported all that the chief priests and the elders had said to them. When they heard this, they raised their voices together in prayer to God. “Sovereign Lord,” they said, “you made the heavens and the earth and the sea, and everything in them…..

Acts 4:31

AFTER THEY PRAYED, the place where they were meeting was shaken. AND THEY WERE ALL FILLED WITH THE HOLY SPIRIT  and spoke the word of God boldly.

  1.   PRAY FOR THE RETURN OF THE FEAR OF THE LORD AND AN ATTITUDE OF NON-COMPROMISE

Acts 2:5

Now there were staying in Jerusalem God-fearing Jews from every nation under heaven.

Queenstown has been plagued by a spirit of compromise that seeks to weaken the church and the testimony of its leaders to the community.   Pray that the church and its leaders may return to an unwavering commitment to Holiness and purity in their lifestyle and leadership roles.

  1.    PRAY FOR REVIVAL

Acts 2:6-11

WHEN THEY HEARD THE SOUND,  a CROWD CAME TOGETHER in bewilderment, because each one heard their own language being spoken. Utterly amazed, they asked: “Aren’t all these who are speaking Galileans? Then how is it that each of us hears them in our native language? Parthians, Medes and Elamites; residents of Mesopotamia, Judea and Cappadocia, Pontus and Asia, Phrygia and Pamphylia, Egypt and the parts of Libya near Cyrene; visitors from Rome (both Jews and converts to Judaism); Cretans and Arabs—WE HEAR THEM DECLARING THE WONDERS OF GOS IN OUR OWN TONGUES!”

  • There will be a sound.
  • Let the crowds come together – no more empty churches and poorly attended gatherings
  • Let the people “hear us”
  • Let there be a clear declaration of the Gospel
  • Let the ” true wonders ” of GOD / proper testimonies be heard
  • “In our own tongues” – that the church may be relevant to all groups.  Youth, the poor, the rich, the sports people, government officials etc.

  1. PRAY FOR THE UPCOMING LOCAL GOVERNMENT ELECTIONS

Proverbs 29:2AMP

When the [uncompromisingly] righteous are in authority, the people rejoice; but when the wicked man rules, the people groan and sigh.

Could the relentless unrest and many protests be an indicator?   If so, may the LORD remember us with GOD-fearing, competent and compassionate representatives.

MAY THE LORD UPROOT AND SPARE US FROM THE FOLLOWING KIND OF LEADERS

5.1.   THE CONFUSED LEADERS

Isaiah 5:20

Woe to those who call evil good

and good evil,

who put darkness for light

and light for darkness,

who put bitter for sweet

and sweet for bitter.

5.2.   THE DRUNK LEADERS

Isaiah 5:22

Woe to those who are heroes at drinking wine

and champions at mixing drinks,

Proverbs 31:4-5

It is not for kings, Lemuel—

it is not for kings to drink wine,

not for rulers to crave beer,

lest they drink and forget what has been decreed,

and deprive all the oppressed of their rights.

Isaiah 56:12

“Come,” each one cries, “let me get wine!

Let us drink our fill of beer!

And tomorrow will be like today,

or even far better.”

5.3.   LEADERS WHO IGNORE GOOD ADVICE

Isaiah 5:21

Woe to those who are wise in their own eyes

and clever in their own sight.

Ecclesiastes 4:13

It is better to be a poor but wise youth than an old and foolish king who refuses all advice.

5.4. LEADERS WHO INTERFERE WITH THE INTENTION TO DEFEAT THE ENDS OF JUSTICE

Isaiah 5:23

who acquit the guilty for a bribe,

but deny justice to the innocent.

5.5.   LEADERS WHO ARE APPETITE DRIVEN

Isaiah 56:11

They are (like) dogs with mighty appetites;

they never have enough.

They are shepherds who lack understanding;

they all turn to their own way,

they seek their own gain.

SO WHAT SHOULD THE RESULTS BE?

Psalms 109:8

May his days be few;

may another take his place of leadership.

  1.   PRAYER FOR THE NATION

Psalms 33:12-19

Blessed is the nation whose God is the Lord,

the people he chose for his inheritance.

From heaven the Lord looks down

and sees all mankind;

from his dwelling place he watches

all who live on earth—

he who forms the hearts of all,

who CONSIDERS EVERYTHING THEY DO.

No king is saved by the size of his army;

no warrior escapes by his great strength.

A horse is a vain hope for deliverance;

despite all its great strength it cannot save.

But the eyes of the Lord are on those who fear him,

on those whose hope is in his unfailing love,

to deliver them from death

and keep them alive in famine.

  • May Jehovah be our GOD once again – in the face of many alters
  • GOD IS INTERESTED – HE looks down and sees and watches all mankind
  • All earthly activity is under GOD’S scrutiny – “HE considers all they do”
  • Military might is never enough – arms deals will always be a nagging burden
  • Specific focus is given to those who honor HIM – the results being sustenance and survival.

Proverbs 14:34 NIV

Righteousness exalts a nation,

but sin condemns any people.

Proverbs 14:34 AMP

Uprightness and right standing with God (moral and spiritual rectitude in every area and relation) elevate a nation, but sin is a reproach to any people.

May righteousness rise again.

May the sins of our leaders NOT be counted on us.

DON’T WORRY – IS IT POSSIBLE?

DONT WORRYDON’T WORRY – IS IT POSSIBLE?

Proverbs 12:25
Anxiety weighs down the heart, but a kind word cheers it up.

Psalms 94:19
When anxiety was great within me, your consolation brought me joy.

Ecclesiastes 11:10
So then, banish anxiety from your heart and cast off the troubles of your body, for youth and vigor are meaningless.

Luke 21:34
“Be careful, or your hearts will be weighed down with carousing, drunkenness and the anxieties of life, and that day will close on you suddenly like a trap.

Matthew 6:27
Can any one of you by worrying add a single hour to your life?

Matthew 6:31-32
So do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ For the pagans run after all these things, and your heavenly Father knows that you need them.

Matthew 6:34
Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Each day has enough trouble of its own.

1 Peter 5:7-11
Cast all your anxiety on him because he cares for you. Be alert and of sober mind. Your enemy the devil prowls around like a roaring lion looking for someone to devour. Resist him, standing firm in the faith, because you know that the family of believers throughout the world is undergoing the same kind of sufferings. And the God of all grace, who called you to his eternal glory in Christ, after you have suffered a little while, will himself restore you and make you strong, firm and steadfast. To him be the power for ever and ever. Amen.

FAST FACT ABOUT PRAYER – DAY 28

SUPERMANPRAYER TRANSCENDS HUMAN LIMITATIONS

James 5:17-18
Elijah was a human being with a nature such as we have [with feelings, affections, and a constitution like ours]; and he prayed earnestly for it not to rain, and no rain fell on the earth for three years and six months.

And [then] he prayed again and the heavens supplied rain and the land produced its crops [as usual].

Have you ever felt like GOD had no reason to answer you because of your weak and faltering nature?  Feeling like your prayers may just be going no where beyond the ceiling.  Well, Elijah did exploits!  He prayed and we tend to feel, oh those super faith giants of Bible times.  They must have been super human and holy untouchables to get such results in their prayer lives.

Well, there was even a rumor at some point that Elijah might have been an angel after-all he didn’t even die, he was transported by a whirlwind to heaven.  How more super holy can you be to defy the force of gravity and the all conquering grave?
Elijah prayed and the heavens obeyed him for three years, they withheld rain. Again he prayed and rain came.   Well, it is so uplifting to discover he was a man of like passions. The struggles and temptations we face, he faced too.

You don’t have to be superman before you can have an audience with GOD.
Take courage!  Pray today, Now! And expect great results.

40 FAST FACT FACT ABOUT PRAYER – DAY 27

PRAYER HELPPRAYER SECURES HELP

Psalm 46
God is our refuge and strength,
an ever-present HELP in trouble.
Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way
and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea,
though its waters roar and foam
and the mountains quake with their surging.

Life without HELP is nothing short of a HELL experience.   We all need help.  We are born helpless.  We are where we are because someone helped us.   From the the first day to the last, help is needed. Even the dead need help to have a decent burial.   The baby needs help, the student needs help, the business executive needs help,  the spouse needs help, the leader of the most powerful nation needs help.

Everyone needs help. The right kind of help at the right time.
Our help varies, but nonetheless it is needed.

1   Sometimes it’s just help to pick oneself after some setbacks.

1 Samuel 23:16
And Saul’s son Jonathan went to David at Horesh and HELPED HIM FIND STRENGTH IN GOD.

2.   So today, don’t hesitate to call out to GOD our Loving Father for HELP.  Life can be a scary patch without help

Isaiah 41:10
So do not fear, for I am with you;
do not be dismayed, for I am your God.
I will strengthen you and HELP you;
I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

3.  Do so with Confidence

Hebrews 4:16

Let us then fearlessly and confidently and boldly draw near to the throne of grace (the throne of God’s unmerited favor to us sinners), that we may receive mercy [for our failures] and find grace to HELP in good time for every need [appropriate HELP and well-timed HELP, coming just when we need it].

ASCENSION SERIES – THE CELEBRATION

jesus_returns_to_the_fatherASCENSION SERIES

THE CELEBRATION

Ephesians 4:8
Therefore it is said, When He ascended on high, He led captivity captive [He led a train of vanquished foes] and He bestowed gifts on men.

What is a train?

( A succession of vehicles or pack animals traveling the same direction)

4: 8 [17] 4: 8 Matthew Henry, Commentary on the Holy Bible: “He conquered those who had conquered us—such as sin, the devil, and death.”

A train:
The Romans were forceful and showy – they made a public spectacle of their victims of war!   They did not kill them and live them over there at the battle ground No!
The captured ones would be tied like a train – one behind the other and be brought back into the city for all citizens to see.

They may be big but they are captured!
They may be intimidating but they are prisoners!
They may still be dangerous in themselves but they are conquered!
They may have been bullies but they are bound!

NB :    When the people would see the kind of enemies their leaders have to face and conquer – there would be admiration and great respect accorded to them.

JESUS conquered sickness , death and the devil – they are conquered  –  but he did not leave them in hell – they are still here!  IN THE NAME OF JESUS WE BIND THEM – THEY HAVE NO CHOICE BUT TO OBEY . . . . THEY ARE PRISONERS OF WAR!!!

And when we see sickness, eg Cancer, HIV , healed. Our hearts get a great admiration for our Captain – JESUS!

We see cancer, but it is conquered!
We see HIV but it is H E A L E D!
We see migraines but they must migrate back to hell
We see TB but it is Broken
Pain is swallowed by Peace
Poverty bows down to prosperity
And the ice of despair evaporates at the rising Sun of Hope!!!

Now, imagine a train of conquered soldiers tied one behind the other!
The general pulls one and the rest follow:

NB : Call volunteers to demonstrate!

The first prisoner of war – chief among them was sin. Then sickness, despair , anxiety , pain , anger , suffering , lack , cruelty, low- self esteem , . . . The last one is called death.    Once these were captured, the devil has no soldiers to fight his dirty battles.

Look at :

Colossians 2:15
And having disarmed the powers and authorities, he made a public spectacle of them, triumphing over them by the cross.

He tied sin, sickness , death , . . . All for the enemies of our Peace and  Progress

As a result;  where sin is forgiven , sickness must bow ,

Have No fear! Sin , even the one that ” so easily entangles” – it shall not have dominion over you!!! It is bound It is defeated. . . . .  You will go home free of lust today!  Addiction to porn cannot hold on any longer – it is captured!

TESTIMONY:
One of our precious leaders – a loving dedicated man was diagnosed HIV positive and beacame sick nigh unto death!  We prayed – I will not forget the loving determination of the wife – (you know – in difficult times – the best or the worst in people shows) – she stood by him strong in prayer!!!
The LORD honored us – the precious man arose but the virus was still visible.

The time a test came – they checked on him and the virus could not be found.  The medical insurance called – sir , we’ll have to reduce your premiums because the virus cannot be found in you!!!!   HALLELUJAH!    It’s years now and they are still living happily and even have a miracle baby, when they’d struggled for years to conceive.

1.     CAPTIVITY HAS BEEN LED CAPTIVE

Sin, sickness  and the nagging suffering that they cause a person to give up quickly.

Job 42:10
And the Lord turned the captivity of Job and restored his fortunes, when he prayed for his friends; also the Lord gave Job twice as much as he had before.

2.       Gifts were given in celebration of the victory :
It was always a survival of the fittest!
If those conquered had not been conquered – be sure it would only be a matter of time they would be coming after the others.

Satan and his team don’t live you alone because you let them alone!

THIS VICTORY WAS SIGNIFICANT!!!

David did this:

1 Samuel 30:26
When David came to Ziklag, he sent part of the spoil to the elders of Judah, his friends, saying, Here is a gift for you of the spoil of the enemies of the Lord:

GOD DID IT TO JOB:

Job 42:10
And the Lord turned the CAPTIVITY of Job and restored his fortunes, when he prayed for his friends; also the Lord GAVE JOB TWICE AS MUCH as he had before.

JESUS DID IT TO THE CHURCH

List the gifts
Apostles
Prophets
Teachers
Pastors
Evangelists

But Above All GOD THE HOLY SPIRIT BECAME OUR GREATEST GIFT!!!!

GOD IS BIG ON GIFTS!!!

HE SO LOVED THE WORLD THAT HE GAVE . . . .

CELEBRATE THE GIFT!!!! How?

The legal definition of a gift is:
There must be an offer
There must be a recipient
There must be no expectation of payment

By accepting the gift?
JESUS IS A GIFT. – ACCEPT HIM

HOLY SPIRIT IS A GIFT – ACCEPT HIM

YOUR LEADERS ARE A GIFT – ACCEPT THEM

UNFAIR ADVANTAGES ABOUT MOTHERS

Mothers_dayUNFAIR ADVANTAGES ABOUT MOTHERS

1.    IT IS NEVER DIFFICULT TO FIND GOOD THINGS TO SAY ABOUT MOTHERS

Proverbs 31:28-29
Her children arise and call her blessed;
her husband also, and he praises her:
“Many women do noble things,
but you surpass them all.”

I mean, this is early in the morning and she is already getting accolades!
They seem to pull it out of us, how sweet!

2.    They melt our hearts quickly – THE BOND IS STRONGER

We stay in their womb nine months while they speak and connect
We stay months even years on their breast,  oxytocin – the “love hormone” flowing to the baby regularly.

Their voice is sweet melody that calms us from early days.   It’s the first voice we learn to distinguish even from those early days.

The very name Mom, Mother, Mme, Mhani, Mama, uMha, Manana Mianga,
It softens us, it conquers us, it brings images of warmth, it feels so safe.

How can one ever compete with that!?!

3.   THEY KNOW US SO WELL

From the very beginning they learn to distinguish the different cries and sounds.  When the baby starts crying the  cry sounds the same to all of us but not to Mom.   She can tell, this one is because the baby is  hungry, this one is because of some stomach discomfort etc.

I don’t think that developed sense vanishes, as the children grow she still knows something from the voice to the look, the walk and the body language.
Mom seems to know when we are afraid, or guilty, or unwell.   She has even been believed to have a sixth sense.

NO WONDER WHEN ITS MOTHERS DAY – PASSIONATE EXPRESSIONS OF APPRECIATION JUST KEEP FLOWING!

We salute all Moms!   May the heartfelt, well deserved affirmations of love you receive today, carry you through the rest of time when they are unspoken, forgotten or overlooked.

Thank GOD for Mothers Day.   It forces even the lousy ones among us to do something of an appreciation.  A kind word.  A thought even a gift

MOTHER is not just any and every woman.  While all women are special and to be celebrated – rightfully so, Not because of their achievements and daily exploits, …. and they have many of those!

Overcoming lack
Bringing color and beauty to life
Rising above the unfair practices of tradition
Rewriting skew history
Courageously going down the isle with some less-than-perfect guy
Conquering the fear of tomorrow…….

To name but a few!

BUT

MOTHER takes it all higher in leaps and bounds

Mother incubates life – taking the discomforts and inconveniences with joy
Mother gives birth – often at the risk of losing her own
Mother nurtures life – Those seemingly ever-lasting hours of high care nursing
Mother often juggles many roles to create comfort –

House keeping
Culinary excellence
Career demands
At times studying for self improvement and up-skilling
Making the most of limited financial resources
Those memorable clothes, toys, birthday parties and Christmas seasons

Mother smiles
Mother must still be a disciplinarian
Mother takes the knock when we fall
Mother encourages when we falter
Mother cries when we hurt
Mother walks in when all others March out

(Even the Kreichers of this world are counting on MOM to fund and master mind their prison escape)

SO TODAY WE CELEBRATE MOMS

FROM ASCENSION TO PENTECOST

Ascension MIRACLE

jesus_returns_to_the_fatherJust as the Virgin Birth, Passover, Resurrection are in every way miracles we celebrate regularly, Ascension day is by no means  any less in importance.

It is an event that marked a glorious ELEVATION of our risen LORD from the earth blissfully making way for the much anticipated HOLY SPIRIT who was to come after HIM.  JESUS had spoken so much about HOLY SPIRIT, that although the disciples were initially quite worried about his imminent departure, so good was the credentials cited by the Risen Lord that it must have been easy to receive and welcome HIM.

John 14:16
And I will ask the Father, and He will give you another Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Intercessor, Advocate, Strengthener, and Standby), that He may remain with you forever—

But all this would not happen unless Jesus  first went back to the Father

Here are some scriptures that reveal the excitement and benefit of this event

FACTS ABOUT ASCENSION DAY

1.    IT PAVED THE WAY FOR HOLY SPIRIT TO COME

John 16:7
Nevertheless I tell you the truth. It is to your advantage that I go away; for if I do not go away, the Helper will not come to you; but if I depart, I will send Him to you.

ASCENSION USHERED THE MUCH AWAITED HOLY SPIRIT AGE / DISPENSATION

2.    IT WAS A SPECTACULAR EVENT

Acts 1:9-11
After saying this, he was taken up into a cloud while they were watching, and they could no longer see him. As they strained to see him rising into heaven, two white-robed men suddenly stood among them. “Men of Galilee,” they said, “why are you standing here staring into heaven? Jesus has been taken from you into heaven, but someday he will return from heaven in the same way you saw him go!”

3.    IT WAS GOING TO BE THE BEGINNING OF THE MUCH TREASURED INTERCESSORY LIFE OF OUR LORD

Romans 8:34
Who is there to condemn [us]? Will Christ Jesus (the Messiah), Who died, or rather Who was raised from the dead, Who is at the right hand of God actually pleading as He intercedes for us?

4.    IT SET IN MOTION THE BLESSING OF THE FIVE FOLD MINISTRY

Ephesians 4:9-13
(Now this, “He ascended”—what does it mean but that He also first descended into the lower parts of the earth? He who descended is also the One who ascended far above all the heavens, that He might fill all things.)

And He Himself gave some to be apostles, some prophets, some evangelists, and some pastors and teachers, for the equipping of the saints for the work of ministry, for the edifying of the body of Christ, till we all come to the unity of the faith and of the knowledge of the Son of God, to a perfect man, to the measure of the stature of the fullness of Christ;

5.    IT ELEVATES ALL WHO BELIEVE IN CHRIST

Hebrews 8:1-2
Now the main point of what we are saying is this: We do have such a high priest, who sat down at the right hand of the throne of the Majesty in heaven, and who serves in the sanctuary, the true tabernacle set up by the Lord, not by a mere human being.

SEVEN BACK-BREAKING, GUT-WRENCHING PROBLEMS THAT AWAIT ALL WHO HATE YOU FOR LOVING JESUS

Problems-AheadSEVEN BACK-BREAKING,  GUT-WRENCHING PROBLEMS THAT AWAIT ALL WHO HATE YOU FOR LOVING JESUS

PROBLEM   1

THEIR HOPES WILL MARRY EMPTINESS

Proverbs 10:28
The prospect of the righteous is joy,
but the hopes of the wicked come to nothing.

Nothing in life is as frustrating as dreaming, planning, executing a plan then wait in anticipation only to have the whole process culminating to a crescendo of nothingness.

PROBLEM   2.

COMMON PROBLEMS WILL OVERWHELM THEM

Challenges will knock on everyone’s door.   It’s a fallen world where everything keeps drifting towards chaos, but for the haters of righteousness, even simple things will overwhelm them emotionally and otherwise.

Proverbs 10:25
When the storm has swept by, the wicked are gone,
but the righteous stand firm forever.

PROBLEM   3.

THEY’LL NEVER ENJOY FAMILY FULFILLMENT

Life at home will be a perpetual misery.   Establishment and settlement will be  a far away dream that keeps drifting away like mist.

Proverbs 3:33
The Lord’s curse is on the house of the wicked,
but he blesses the home of the righteous.

PROBLEM   4.

THEIR PRONOUNCEMENTS WILL BE SILENCED

Proverbs 10:31AMP
The mouths of the righteous (those harmonious with God) bring forth skillful and godly Wisdom, but the perverse tongue shall be cut down [like a barren and rotten tree].

A Cut-off date is looming for every word they’ve uttered against you

Proverbs 10:31NLT
The mouth of the godly person gives wise advice,
but the tongue that deceives will be cut off.

PROBLEM   5.

THEIR TALENTS, SKILLS AND ABILITIES WILL BE WASTED

Psalms 10:15
Break the arm of the wicked man;
call the evildoer to account for his wickedness
that would not otherwise be found out.

PROBLEM   6.

ENDLESS INVESTIGATIONS FROM WHICH THEY CANNOT RECOVER WILL HAUNT THEM

Psalms 10:15
Break the arm of the wicked man;
call the evildoer to account for his wickedness
that would not otherwise be found out.

Psalms 109:6-8
Appoint someone evil to oppose my enemy;
let an accuser stand at his right hand.
When he is tried, let him be found guilty,
and may his prayers condemn him.
May his days be few;
may another take his place of leadership.

PROBLEM   7.

THEIR ULTIMATE DISASTER,  DEATH, DEMISE IS IMMINENT.

The grave is calling, and they have no choice but to answer.

Ecclesiastes 8:10
And so I saw the wicked buried—those who had come and gone out of the holy place [but did not thereby escape their doom], and they are [praised and] forgotten in the city where they had done such things. This also is vanity (emptiness, falsity, vainglory, and futility)!

Psalms 9:17
The wicked go down to the realm of the dead,
all the nations that forget God.

IN CONCLUSION:

NOW THAT YOU KNOW DIVINE PENALTIES ARE COMING THEIR WAY

What should our attitude towards our enemies be?  now that we are aware of a “few woes” that await them!

Hebrews 10:31KJV
It is a fearful thing to fall into the hands of the living God.

Hebrews 10:31AMP
It is a fearful (formidable and terrible) thing to INCUR THE DIVINE PENALTIES and be cast into the hands of the living God!

1.    PRAY FOR THEM

Matthew 5:43-45
“You have heard that it was said, ‘Love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ But I tell you, love your enemies and pray for those who persecute you, that you may be children of your Father in heaven. He causes his sun to rise on the evil and the good, and sends rain on the righteous and the unrighteous.

2.    IF POSSIBLE,  WARN THEM

Romans 12:18
If possible, as far as it depends on you, live at peace with everyone.

2 Peter 3:9
The Lord is not slow in keeping his promise, as some understand slowness. Instead he is patient with you, not wanting anyone to perish, but everyone to come to repentance.
