THE THIEF – STEALTH

the-thief
THE THIEF.  Stealth

Def:   One who dispossesses another by cautious or surreptitious movement usually without violence.

JESUS SPOKE ABOUT A THIEF

1.   THERE’S NOTHING EVER POSITIVE ABOUT A THIEF

John 10:10
The thief comes ONLY to steal and kill and destroy; I have come that they may have life, and have it to the full.

2.   THEY COME / SNEAK  WHEN LEAST EXPECTED

Matthew 24:43-44
But understand this: If the owner of the house had known at WHAT TIME OF THE NIGHT the thief was coming, he would have kept watch and would not have let his house be broken into. So you also must be ready, because the Son of Man will come at an hour when you do not expect him.

3.    A THIEF STUDIES MOVEMENTS AND USES THE LEAST EXPECTED

John 10:1
“Very truly I tell you Pharisees, anyone who does not enter the sheep pen by the gate, but CLIMBS IN BY SOME OTHER WAY, is a thief and a robber.

4.    A THIEF THRIVES ON THE SURPRISE ELEMENT

1 Thessalonians 5:4
But you, brothers and sisters, are not in darkness so that this day should SURPRISE YOU LIKE A THIEF.

5.   A THIEF MAY BE VOCAL ON ISSUES AND SOCIAL JUSTICE TO HIDE THEIR TRACKS

John 12:4-6
But one of his disciples, Judas Iscariot, who was later to betray him, objected, “Why wasn’t this perfume sold and the money given to the poor? It was worth a year’s wages.” He did not say this because he cared about the poor but because he was a thief; as keeper of the money bag, he used to help himself to what was put into it.

6.    A THIEF HAS SOME SURE SUFFERING AWAITING AT ANY MOMENT

1 Peter 4:15
If you suffer, it should not be as a murderer or thief or any other kind of criminal, or even as a meddler.

7.    A THIEF INCURS CURSES  TOGETHER WITH HIS SILENT ACCOMPLICES

Proverbs 29:24
Whoever is partner with a thief hates his own life; he falls under the curse [pronounced upon him who knows who the thief is] but discloses nothing.

TREASURES TO BE GUARDED VIGILANTLY

What do we have in us,  that so precious, that must

1.   CAPACITY TO HARM THE KINGDOM OF DARKNESS

1 Samuel 13:19-22
Not a blacksmith could be found in the whole land of Israel, because the Philistines had said, “Otherwise the Hebrews will make swords or spears!” So all Israel went down to the Philistines to have their plow points, mattocks, axes and sickles sharpened. The price was two-thirds of a shekel for sharpening plow points and mattocks, and a third of a shekel for sharpening forks and axes and for re-pointing goads.
So on the day of the battle not a soldier with Saul and Jonathan had a sword or spear in his hand; only Saul and his son Jonathan had them.

2.   THE POWER OF TWO

Deuteronomy 32:30-31
How could one man chase a thousand,
or two put ten thousand to flight,
unless their Rock had sold them,
unless the Lord had given them up?
For their rock is not like our Rock,
as even our enemies concede.

Matthew 18:19-20
“Again, truly I tell you that if two of you on earth agree about anything they ask for, it will be done for them by my Father in heaven. For where two or three gather in my name, there am I with them.”

3.    OUR FLYING INSTRUMENTS

The pilot – eg jet winds – our recent Perth to OR

It takes about 9hours from OR Tambo Perth Australia
And it takes 11 hours from Perth to OR Tambo
WHY?
Jet stream – are fast flowing, narrow meandering air currents found in the upper atmosphere above the earth.  They are like rivers of winds they are westerly ( flow from west to east )

So when you fly to Perth they carry you along, they “assist” the aircraft
But when coming back, you fly against them.   And your journey is two hours longer

But recently, when flying out of Perth, the pilot announced that he would take an air route he had never done before.  He was going to fly so far down south in order to avoid some thunderstorm activity along the way. As soon as he took off you could see the aircraft going south west instead of north west,

The pilot has never used this route before
Generally this journey is already two hours longer
This detour into “unknown / unfamiliar waters / atmospheric space”
But we settled and calmly enjoyed the flight

WHY?  HOW COULD ANYONE BE ‘COOL’ ABOUT THIS?

The flight instruments were in tact
The compass was going to show exactly where we are
The radar would tell exactly where we are to those we are flying to!

RADAR:    a system for detecting the presence, direction, distance, and speed of aircraft, ships, and other objects, by sending out pulses of high-frequency electromagnetic waves that are reflected off the object back to the source.

The purpose of the “detour” was to avoid strong wind / Thunderstorm activity
( some winds they fly through – some winds are better avoided )
In fact locally there have been times when they flew much higher just to avoid some thunderstorm activity

HOW DID THEY KNOW THERE WERE THUNDERSTORMS
AND EXACTLY WHERE THEY ARE …..
The instruments are in tact

Our compass is Peace
Our radar is in heaven – GOD knows exactly where we you are
That we are strong enough to fly through – Praise the LORD
Where there’s a seemingly a detour – the control center has figured out that we will make it through

OUR INSTRUMENTS INCLUDE THE SPIRIT OF DISCERNING OF SPIRITS

SOMETIMES ALL WE NEED IS PEACE – to affirm we are still on the right road

AT TIMES WE GET A SIGNAL IN OUR SPIRIT TO PRAY – we are activated to pray because our “control center” / instruments have detected some thunderstorm activity ahead in our journey ROM 8:26

AT TIMES WE ARE TO JUST DISCERN AND AVOID

eg.    The Angels could have fought Herod – but they just told Joseph to go down to Egypt and death defeated those who were serving it

NB.    THERE ARE PEOPLE WHO WILL LOOSE BECAUSE WHILE THEY SEEK TO HURT YOU THEY WILL FALL

Psalms 7:15-16
Whoever digs a hole and scoops it out
falls into the pit they have made.
The trouble they cause recoils on them;
their violence comes down on their own heads.

Proverbs 26:27
Whoever digs a pit will fall into it;
if someone rolls a stone, it will roll back on them.

Proverbs 26:27 AMP
Whoever digs a pit [for another man’s feet] shall fall into it himself, and he who rolls a stone [up a height to do mischief], it will return upon him.
