THE IMPORTANCE OF BIBLE READING

  1. TO KNOW THE MIND OF GOD

1 Corinthians 2:7-12 NIV

No, we declare God’s wisdom, a mystery that has been hidden and that God destined for our glory before time began. None of the rulers of this age understood it, for if they had, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory. However, as it is written:

“What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard,

and what no human mind has conceived”—

the things God has prepared for those who love him—

these are the things God has revealed to us by his Spirit.

The Spirit searches all things, even the deep things of God. For who knows a person’s thoughts except their own spirit within them? In the same way no one knows the thoughts of God except the Spirit of God. What we have received is not the spirit of the world, but the Spirit who is from God, so that we may understand what God has FREELY GIVEN us.

  • Free salvation.
  • Free healing.
  • Free deliverance.
  • Freedom

1 Corinthians 2:7 AMP

But rather what we are setting forth is a wisdom of God once hidden [from the human understanding] and now revealed to us by God—[that wisdom] which God devised and decreed before the ages for our glorification [to lift us into the glory of His presence].

  1. TO ACQUAINT YOURSELF WITH THE PATTERNS / WAYS OF GOD.

Romans 12:2

Do not conform to the pattern of this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind. Then you will be able to test and approve what God’s will is—his good, pleasing and perfect will.

Psalms 103:7

He made known His ways to Moses, His acts to the children of Israel.

  1. TO FILL YOURSELF WITH TESTIMONIES – STORIES OF GOD’S INTERVENTION IN THE AFFAIRS OF MEN – HOPE ARISES.

Romans 15:4

For everything that was written in the past was written to teach us, so that through the endurance taught in the Scriptures and the encouragement they provide we might have hope.

  1. TO BE READY TO ANSWER / DEFEND WHERE NECESSARY

1 Peter 3:15 NIV

But in your hearts revere Christ as Lord. Always be prepared to give an answer to everyone who asks you to give the reason for the hope that you have. But do this with gentleness and respect,

1 Peter 3:15 AMP

But in your hearts set Christ apart as holy [and acknowledge Him] as Lord. Always be ready to give a logical defense to anyone who asks you to account for the hope that is in you, but do it courteously and respectfully.

  1. TO GAIN WORDS OF VICTORY OVER AN INCESSANT devil.

WHEN IDENTITY IS QUESTIONED. …if you are all that you claim to be…

Luke 4:3-4

The devil said to him, “If you are the Son of God, tell this stone to become bread.” Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Man shall not live on bread alone.’”

WHEN YOUR PURPOSE IN LIFE IS THREATENED. …..take the short cut?!?

Luke 4:5-8

The devil led him up to a high place and showed him in an instant all the kingdoms of the world. And he said to him, “I will give you all their authority and splendor; it has been given to me, and I can give it to anyone I want to. If you worship me, it will all be yours.”

Jesus answered, “It is written: ‘Worship the Lord your God and serve him only.’”

WHEN YOUR SECURITY IS THREATENED. …

If Jesus was tempted to commit suicide – to compromise his well-being / end His life prematurely….. Surely the enemy would not hesitate to repeat the same trick on GOD’S people

Luke 4:9-13

The devil led him to Jerusalem and had him stand on the highest point of the temple. “If you are the Son of God,” he said, “throw yourself down from here. For it is written:

“‘He will command his angels concerning you

to guard you carefully;

they will lift you up in their hands,

so that you will not strike your foot against a stone.’”

Jesus answered, “It is said: ‘Do not put the Lord your God to the test.’”

When the devil had finished all this tempting, he left him until an opportune time.

  1. TO SECURE GODLY SUCCESS ALREADY PROMISED.

Joshua 1:8

This Book of the Law shall not depart from your mouth, but you shall meditate in it day and night, that you may observe to do according to all that is written in it. For then you will make your way prosperous, and then you will have good success.

  1. TO GAIN THE CONFIDENCE OF HEAVEN FOR IMPORTANT MISSIONS.

2 Timothy 2:15 AMP

Study and be eager and do your utmost to present yourself to God approved (tested by trial), a workman who has no cause to be ashamed, correctly analyzing and accurately dividing [rightly handling and skillfully teaching] the Word of Truth.

ACTS 8:26-39

Philip was sent by the Spirit to the desert road.  He was shown the chariot. …Nothing else was said!!! He was competent to handle the WORD OF TRUTH.
