FROM PRISONER TO CAPTAIN

FROM PRISONER TO CAPTAIN

FROM PRISONER TO CAPTAIN

He who has a Word from the LORD will not only rise above adverse circumstances but will lead and save many who are in similar challenges

From the story of the shipwreck that Paul found himself in when he was being sent to Caesar in Rome there are powerful faith building lesson we can glean on

1.    ALLOW GOD’S WORD / AFFIRMATION / PROMISE TO CHEER YOU UP AND MOVE YOU ONWARD.

Acts 27:25
Therefore take heart, men, for I believe God that it will be just as it was told me.

2.    CONNECT TO THE PROMISE THAT COVERS YOU FROM LOSS.

Acts 27:22
And now I urge you to take heart, for there will be no loss of life among you, but only of the ship.

3.    THOUGH PROPHESIED, THE ISLAND WAS TEMPORARY.

Acts 27:26
However, we must run aground on a certain island.”

Whatever may feel like limiting experiences you are going through. It was a passage and not the purpose!  A detour and not a destination!   Never allow any ‘island’ to be permanent in your life.  Islands of delay, insolvency, family upheavals, contract termination etc.

4.    STAY WITHIN THE ‘PROPHETIC SURVEILLANCE’ NO DANGER IS ABOVE DIVINE DECLARATION.

Acts 27:30-31
And as the sailors were seeking to escape from the ship, when they had let down the skiff into the sea, under pretense of putting out anchors from the prow, Paul said to the centurion and the soldiers, “Unless these men stay in the ship, you cannot be saved.”

The safest place for those soldiers was within the confines of the Word spoken by Paul!   It may have looked ‘limiting’ or even sounded ‘simplistic’ to them, considering the magnitude of their prolonged suspense, and the dangerous unrelenting circumstance which were all around them.
Yet, the only safe place was not even the ship since it was going to break down, but the safest place was anywhere within Paul’s words for them! Stay in the Words Spoken!

Read them.
Remind yourself of the Prophetic declarations spoken over your life.
Re-live the excitement- rejoice that the Word ‘found you’ in your danger moments.

Everyone has their GOD ordained prophetic space! That prophecy was for Paul and the 217 people in the ship. Peter didn’t need that word, he was safe and sound wherever he may have been. John the Revelator was safe wherever he was.

Those soldiers were under the Love of GOD in that ship, uncomfortable as it may have seemed. They were no longer carried by the ship, they were now sailing on the Word.  The invisible yet very sure Word Spoken over them was their only and true means of survival and escape.

Now the challenge was for them to Take Heed! To “be careful how you hear”…To yield themselves to this prisoner-turned-captain called Paul.

Well, their captain and his crew had made decisions before.   They decided to sail ignoring Paul’s advice and the trouble they were in ensued.

Acts 27:21
But after long abstinence from food, then Paul stood in the midst of them and said, “Men, you should have listened to me, and not have sailed from Crete and incurred this disaster and loss.

Thank GOD disaster and loss are avoidable when we listen to the Word!

5.    ABANDON ALL FALSE PRETENSES – THEY DISCONNECT ONE PROM THE PROPHETIC COVERING.

The soldiers who wanted to sneak away on a side boat could connect to the warnings given before and they abandoned their pretense and in that way they reached the island safe and sound

Never allow anyone, under falls presences of care and wisdom to swerve you away from your legitimate prophetic space in GOD.  As long as they stayed under Paul’s anointing / authority, they were going to reach their destination safely.

Countless souls have made a shipwreck of their lives and faith for ignoring a simple instruction from the “Legitimate Authority” of the minister / shepherd / local church where GOD, in His Wisdom and Providence, planted them.

6.    GOD HAS PREPARED UNCOMMON HELP FOR YOU.

Acts 28:1-2
Now when they had escaped, they then found out that the island was called Malta. And the natives showed us UNUSUAL KINDNESS; for they kindled a fire and made us all welcome, because of the rain that was falling and because of the cold.

7.    WOOD OR SNAKES, YOU WILL SUFFER NO HARM.

Acts 28:3-5
But when Paul had gathered a bundle of sticks and laid them on the fire, a viper came out because of the heat, and fastened on his hand. So when the natives saw the creature hanging from his hand, they said to one another, “No doubt this man is a murderer, whom, though he has escaped the sea, yet justice does not allow to live.” But he shook off the creature into the fire and SUFFERED NO HARM.

In the cold months, snakes can look like sticks because they hibernate.  But fire activates them.
In the process of collecting “wood” for your project.
Such as employing the right personnel,   Gathering the right team.  Building up a ministry team – be warned!   Some good looking logs may actually be snakes.  Never blame yourself forever for making mistakes when choosing.
To be safe;   Keep the fire of a sound prayer life burning – you can always conveniently “throw them” in the fire and you will suffer no harm!!!
