IN PURSUIT OF HIS GLORIOUS PRESENCE

IN PURSUIT OF HIS GLORIOUS PRESENCE

THE PRACTICE OF HIS PRESENCE

CHRIST did not come to bring us religion.  We are not saved to follow a mean system of cold rules that make the adherents unloving and aloof.
GOD is very relational.   He is always inviting his favorite creation to come closer.
We must live continually in an awareness of GOD’S PRESENCE and seek to preserve and promote that beautiful atmosphere.
And while it is true that we serve an Omnipresent GOD, there is another level of HIS PRESENCE that a believer can enjoy.  It is a PRESENCE that comes with specific benefits:

Luke 5:17
Now it happened on a certain day, as He was teaching, that there were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea, and Jerusalem. And THE POWER OF THE LORD WAS PRESENT TO HEAL THEM.

REASONS WHY WE MUST LIVE CONSCIOUS OF HIS PRESENCE

1.   HIS PRESENCE FILLS US WITH JOY

Psalms 16:11
You make known to me the path of life;
you will fill me with joy in your presence,
with eternal pleasures at your right hand.

2.  IT PAINS THE HEART OF GOD WHEN WE DON’T COME

Isaiah 65:1-2
“I revealed myself to those who did not ask for me;
I was found by those who did not seek me.
To a nation that did not call on my name,
I said, ‘Here am I, here am I.’
All day long I have held out my hands
to an obstinate people,
who walk in ways not good,
pursuing their own imaginations—

3.  WE SHOULD NEVER WAIT UNTIL THERE’S PAIN TO ENJOY GOD

Psalms 32:9
Do not be like the horse or the mule,
which have no understanding
but must be controlled by bit and bridle
OR THEY WILL NOT COME TO YOU.

4.  CHOOSING OUR OWN WAY RATHER THAN HIS, IS A WASTE OF GRACE

Isaiah 30:15-20
This is what the Sovereign Lord, the Holy One of Israel, says:
“IN REPENTANCE AND REST is your salvation,
in quietness and trust is your strength,
but you would have none of it.
You said, ‘No, we will flee on horses.’
Therefore you will flee!
You said, ‘We will ride off on swift horses.’
Therefore your pursuers will be swift!
A thousand will flee
at the threat of one;
at the threat of five
you will all flee away,
till you are left
like a flagstaff on a mountaintop,
like a banner on a hill.”
YET THE LORD LONGS TO BE GRACIOUS TO YOU;
therefore HE WILL RISE UP TO SHOW YOU COMPASSION.
For the Lord is a God of justice.
Blessed are all who wait for him!
People of Zion, who live in Jerusalem, you will weep no more. HOW GRACIOUS HE WILL  BE WHEN YOU CRY FOR HELP!
AS SOON AS HE HEARS, HE WILL ANSWER YOU. Although the Lord gives you the bread of adversity and the water of affliction, your teachers will be hidden no more; with your own eyes you will see them.

5. OUTSIDE OF GOD’S PRESENCE THERE’S AIMLESS WONDERING

Genesis 4:16
So Cain went out from the Lord’s presence and lived in the land of Nod, (wondering) east of Eden.

6.   THOSE WHO’VE TASTED ITS BEAUTY NEVER WANT TO LIVE WITHOUT IT

Psalms 51:11
Do not cast me from your presence
or take your Holy Spirit from me.

Psalms 21:6
Surely you have granted him unending blessings
and made him glad with the joy of your presence.

HERE’S HOW YOU MAY ATTRACT THE MANIFEST PRESENCE OF GOD

1.  KEEP A GRATEFUL HEART AND VERBALIZE IT

Thanksgiving is a sure and quick way to attract the aroma of GOD’S PRESENCE. Long before we appear on the scene of life, GOD has already been working things to favor us, all evil not withstanding!

1.1.   Before we were born Jesus had already died for us.

Romans 5:8
But God demonstrates His own love toward us, in that while we were still sinners, Christ died for us.

1.2.  Before you were born, GOD preserved the generations that carried you from wars and plagues.

Psalms 90:1-2
A Prayer of Moses the man of God.
Lord, You have been our dwelling place in all generations.
Before the mountains were brought forth,
Or ever You had formed the earth and the world,
Even from everlasting to everlasting, You are God.
