JESUS – THE BLESSING TO ALL FAMILIES
“I will bless those who bless you,
And I will curse him who curses you;
And in you all the families of the earth shall be blessed.”
When GOD called Abraham out of moon worship and the idolatry of his birth place Ur of the Chaldeans, there were Blessings promised. Indeed GOD blessed him until he became extremely wealthy. Even when Abraham was at fault, as when he went to Egypt and told a half truth about Sarah, that she was his sister instead of his wife, GOD’S blessing still turned the entire situation into one that elevated Abraham as a prophet and livestock was given to him by the Egyptian king.
In the time of war he could glide over five kings with only 318 men, as he did when he went to rescue his nephew, Lot.
But the Greatest of Blessings announced in Genesis 12 is that all families of the earth would receive a Blessing through Abraham. How was this going to happen? What would this Blessing look like?
The Promise was that through his seed a Savior would come.
Jesus is called the seed of Abraham. And he took away the unyielding albatross on the neck of the human race, called “the curse” that fell on all because of Adam, and by extension all were considered law breakers even though we’d never seen or heard the law of GOD, and the curses of the law applied to all families of the earth. Namely doom, gloom, poverty, disease, defeat, divorce, failure, worry, tears, dismay, domination by evil forces working through fallen nature. The human condition was bleak, and still is without CHRIST. Oh, but when JESUS came…!!!
“Christ has redeemed us from the curse of the law, having become a curse for us (for it is written, “Cursed is everyone who hangs on a tree”), that the BLESSING OF ABRAHAM might come upon the Gentiles in CHRIST JESUS, that we might receive the promise of the Spirit through faith.”
He took upon himself our shame, our pain, our eternal judgment and blessed us with a heart to turn toward HIM
“To you first, God, having raised up His Servant Jesus, SENT HIM TO BLESS YOU, in turning away every one of you from your iniquities.”
Jesus is the ultimate unparalleled Blessing to all families on earth.
Even as the world celebrates St Valentine’ day today and calling February the month of love,
1. That all families of the loved ones around you would have their eyes open to the true Love and Blessing that each family now qualifies for because of the great sacrifice on the cross. No need for perpetual discord, disillusionment, divorce or even premature death. The curse is broken, the Blessing is free to all who will simply receive in childlike faith and appreciation.
2. Pray that as many long to define an understand love, they will be guided to and reminded of the Love of GOD.
3. Pray for marriages especial of those in the public space who are often targeted by the enemy in order to distort the image of what a good family structure should look like. satan is trying hard to undermine the portrait of a Biblical marriage, through moral failure and division.
