Sex attaches deeply – what was meant to be a one day stint became a deeply embedded soul tie.
1. DELIVER US FROM UNINTENDED SOUL TIES
Soul ties in themselves aren’t bad. Human beings were created with the ability to bond. Mothers bond with their babies. Husbands and wives have special bonds that grow to be so strong, they easily last a life time and go way beyond the physical intimacy drill. Siblings can be so closely knit, they could even kill to protect each other, as in the case of Dinah and her brothers.
However, the good that came standard with creation was defiled and subverted by the enemy at the fall. satan gleefully uses this to tie down people and enslave, delay, derail and even deny them from the Destiny GOD intended for man.
Many have wondered away into good-for-nothing relationships that have wasted their most precious resources such as time, youthful energy, beauty, opportunities to study and so much more. Countless dreams have been squandered – and hopes vanished all because they “hooked up” with the wrong guy and felt so drawn to this situation while the snake squeezed the life out of them sucked dry all the juicy talent in them.
Shechem had no intentions initially to bond with Dinah, it was just youthful lust – just at a go, he was hooked. And the rest is a sad story. An entire community was duped into double pain. Circumcision and a mass murder of men. Annihilating all fathers, living behind a generation of widows and children with no identity.
When Shechem son of Hamor the Hivite, the ruler of that area, saw her, he took her and raped her. His heart was drawn to Dinah daughter of Jacob; he loved the young woman and spoke tenderly to her. And Shechem said to his father Hamor, “Get me this girl as my wife.”
When Jacob heard that his daughter Dinah had been defiled, his sons were in the fields with his livestock; so he did nothing about it until they came home.
Then Shechem’s father Hamor went out to talk with Jacob. Meanwhile, Jacob’s sons had come in from the fields as soon as they heard what had happened. They were shocked and furious, because Shechem had done an outrageous thing in Israel by sleeping with Jacob’s daughter—a thing that should not be done.
Although after the rape, it sounded like love kicked in, the damage was too great and the consequences proved to be dire. The words that describe the reaction of the family to the event are very telling
A thing that should not be done.
Everyone in that community paid the ultimate price for the one stint of an undisciplined youth – it’s not worth it!
2. SIN ATTRACTS AND PAVES THE WAY FOR MORE
Shechem raped, Dinah’s brothers responded by deceiving and killing. In the story of David, Once adultery had happened, Murder followed.
3. GOOD NEWS – DELIVERANCE IS POSSIBLE
“God’s Spirit is on me;
he’s chosen me to preach the Message of good news to the poor,
Sent me to announce pardon to prisoners and
recovery of sight to the blind,
To set the BURDENED and BATTERED FREE”
3.1. GOD INTERVENES – demons interfere
It starts with a willingness to change. Human beings have a will! GOD made them that way. GOD may guide but HE NEVER forces himself on anyone’s will. HE gently knocks, the individual must answer.
“Here I am! I stand at the door and knock. If anyone hears my voice and opens the door, I will come in and eat with that person, and they with me.”
While on the other hand demons manipulate the human will to the point where an individual feels like should they choose to change they will live to regret for the rest of their lives. Most people don’t change even thought they see their lives being wasted only because of a fear that change might not bring any better. From drug addicts to cohabiting – there are many who dread the pounding fear of loss. It is a diabolic lie intended to keep the captives captive. Choose change. Joy is possible. A great life awaits outside the shackles of limiting emotional ties. It was for freedom that Christ came.
1. PRAY THAT THE LORD DELIVER US FROM YOUTHFUL LUST – AND THAT WE MAY EMBRACE THE ALL ABUNDANT GRACE TO FLEE.
2 Timothy 2:22
“Flee also youthful lusts; but pursue righteousness, faith, love, peace with those who call on the Lord out of a pure heart.”
“For the grace of God has appeared that offers salvation to all people. It teaches us to say “NO” TO UNGODLINESS AND WORLDY PASSIONS and to LIVE SELF-CONTROLLED, UPRIGHT, AND GODLY LIVES IN THIS PRESENT AGE, while we wait for the blessed hope—the appearing of the glory of our great God and Savior, Jesus Christ, who gave himself for us to redeem us from all wickedness and to purify for himself a people that are his very own, eager to do what is good.”
2. PRAY FOR THOSE ALREADY HOOKED TO ESCAPE THE FEAR OF CHANGE.
1 John 4:18 NLT
“Such love has no fear, because perfect love expels all fear. If we are afraid, it is for fear of punishment, and this shows that we have not fully experienced his perfect love.”
3. PRAY FOR A WILLINGNESS AND FRESH RESOLVE TO CHANGE
“Come now, let’s settle this,”
says the Lord.
“Though your sins are like scarlet,
I will make them as white as snow.
Though they are red like crimson,
I will make them as white as wool.
If you will only obey me,
you will have plenty to eat
