PRAYER POINTS ON PALM SUNDAY – DAY 0

PRAYER POINTS ON PALM SUNDAY

PRAYER POINTS ON PALM SUNDAY

Matthew 21:1-3

Jesus Comes to Jerusalem as King

As they approached Jerusalem and came to Bethphage on the Mount of Olives, Jesus sent two disciples, saying to them, “Go to the village ahead of you, and at once you will find a donkey tied there, with her colt by her. Untie them and bring them to me. If anyone says anything to you, say that the Lord needs them, and he will send them right away.”

Exodus 13:12-14

you are to give over to the Lord the first offspring of every womb. All the firstborn males of your livestock belong to the Lord. Redeem with a lamb every firstborn donkey, but if you do not redeem it, break its neck. Redeem every firstborn among your sons.

“In days to come, when your son asks you, ‘What does this mean? ’ say to him, ‘With a mighty hand the Lord brought us out of Egypt, out of the land of slavery.

1.        Pray that JESUS disciples, that is;  us, may be found ready and willing when sent to bring the bound to the King

2.        Pray that our eyes be open to the bondage of the villages before us

It is easy to live in our protected environment and ignore/ forget the plight go the lost and bound around us

3.        Pray that HIS instruction be carried out without delay

“Untie and bring them to me”

NB:    It is not enough just to hand a flyer, we ought to ” compel them to come!

In other words give them “compelling reasons why they should come

EXAMPLE

3.1.     Because you took interest in  them to invite – people can be lonely

3.2.     Because you arranged to collect them just to break the “ice”

3.3.     Because you have been inviting repeatedly even though last time they disappointed you, you never gave up – that’s very compelling

3.4.     Because you came out confident that their problem will be attended to and solved!

4.          Pray that every believer overcome the fear of being rejected by opposing voices when approaching people

People may talk, but ours is to answer : ” the LORD needs them”

Matthew 21:4-5

This took place to fulfill what was spoken through the prophet:

“Say to Daughter Zion,

‘See, your king comes to you,

gentle and riding on a donkey,

and on a colt, the foal of a donkey. ’”

5.          Pray that every prophetic word concerning our church come to fulfillment without delay, IT IS OUR TIME NOW!

6.          Pray for the Spiritual illumination for every one around us to see JESUS despite the simplicity and humble circumstances in HIS

visitation.

Matthew 21:6-8

The disciples went and did as Jesus had instructed them. They brought the donkey and the colt and placed their cloaks on them for Jesus to sit on.

A very large crowd spread their cloaks on the road, while others cut branches from the trees and spread them on the road.

7.          Pray that the older believers may be exemplary in attitude and action and to set the tone

They obeyed promptly and were the first to lay their clothes before JESUS . . . .  And the crowds followed their example!

NB.    PEOPLE WILL LEARN AND CATCH HONOR / THE ATTITUDE AND SPIRIT OF THE HOME FROM THOSE THEY FIND IN THAT PLACE

Matthew 21:9-11

The crowds that went ahead of him and those that followed shouted,

“Hosanna to the Son of David!”

“Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!”

“Hosanna in the highest heaven!”

When Jesus entered Jerusalem, the whole city was stirred and asked, “Who is this?”

The crowds answered, “This is Jesus, the prophet from Nazareth in Galilee.”

8.         Pray that there would be a Spirit of Prayer and Praise – HOSSANA

9.          Pray that JESUS may enter our city – there are cities where he was denied access  e.g.  Decapolis, where the pigs went into the water.    And where the disciples ask if they should pray for fire to come down

10.         Pray that there would be a stirring in our city, a stirring that cannot be ignored

11.         Pray that beyond the trappings of pomp and ceremony the simplicity of who JESUS is will be known by every one who comes

STEPS IN THE GOD DIRECTION – DAY 5

STEPS IN THE GOD DIRECTION

STEPS IN THE GOD DIRECTION

Our journey in this life with GOD is pretty much like a baby starting out.

1.  REGULAR FEEDING FOR STRENGTH IS KEY TO SUSTENANCE AND GROWTH

1 Peter 2:2-3 NIV
Like newborn babies, crave pure spiritual milk, so that by it you may grow up in your salvation, now that you have tasted that the Lord is good.

Many struggles in life will not be too hard when the strength and the know how to tackle them are available.
Malnourished children often fail at points where well nourished ones have no problems whatsoever. Even sicknesses take advantage of the underdeveloped bodies through lack of nutrients!

So it is with our walk of Faith!    Many believers suffer non-progress because they are grossly under-malnourished .They only get a few imbalanced crumbs falling off the lips of some quick-fix quasi-spiritual TV or Internet environments. Often meant to hype the listeners more than genuine help!
Let alone that they generally  miss midweek meetings if any in their area.

Imagine children dying of hunger when all food and medicine that they’d ever need are available – unacceptable hey!

The truth is, all the Spiritual nourishment you will ever need to advance rapidly to maturity in your walk with GOD is readily available!    All that’s needed is for you to:

1.1.  PRIORITIZE YOUR FEEDING TIMES.

Read something from the Word of GOD daily,   Preferably in the Morning before you start your day.   There are many challenges in the day,   Experts in nutrition tell us that breakfast is the most important meal of the day.  Don’t go on an “empty stomach.” Even simple problems can look so daunting and discouraging. That’s why we are committed to providing regular, well balanced Spiritual diets through the printed page on all media possible.

2. REGULAR INSPIRATION IS OF VITAL IMPORTANCE

Hebrews 10:25
And let us not neglect our meeting together, as some people do, but encourage one another, especially now that the day of his return is drawing near.

All of us need to be inspired regularly. Experts tell us that the differential on the inspired and the uninspired is as high as 40%. You started on this fresh walk with GOD as a result of an inspiring sermon in an environment where others were seeking the same.

2.2.  FILL UP YOUR INSPIRATION TANK REGULARLY

Don’t neglect being at a service where the same or similar inspiring messages will be taught.
Those who are in the business of helping people loose weight tell us that most of their clients fail because they loose the initial inspiration and enthusiasm. Especially those who are lone Rangers and have no one to jog or exercise with.
You don’t have to walk alone.  We are here for you!

I will be glad to keep sending you something to help you on your journey form time to time, but that’s just like a bite on your way home,  you still need to get a “well cooked” spiritual meal in a homely environment.

I’m pleased to let you know that our church is expanding to a number of towns and cities and we will be glad to receive you and keep you well taken care of spiritually.

Here are more scriptures to fill up whet your spiritual appetite today:

GOD HAS GOOD PLANS FOR YOU

Psalms 138:8a
The Lord will work out his plans for my life—
for your faithful love, O Lord, endures forever

Jeremiah 29:11
For I know the plans I have for you,” declares the Lord, “plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.

ACTIVATING THE COVENANT AND ITS BENEFITS – DAY 6

ACTIVATING THE COVENANT AND ITS BENEFITS

ACTIVATING THE COVENANT AND ITS BENEFITS.

1.   PRECIOUS PROMISES – KNOW THEM.

2 Peter 1:3-4
His divine power has given us everything we need for a godly life through our knowledge of him who called us by his own glory and goodness. Through these he has given us his very great and precious promises, so that through them you may participate in the divine nature, having escaped the corruption in the world caused by evil desires.

2.  REPEAT THEM – RECALL THEM.

2 Corinthians 1:20 AMP
For as many as are the promises of God, they all find their Yes [answer] in Him [Christ]. For this reason we also utter the Amen (so be it) to God through Him [in His Person and by His agency] to the glory of God.

2.1.  EVERY AREA OF CONCERN IS COVERED BY A PROMISE.

Psalms 138:8
The Lord will perfect that which concerns me;
Your mercy, O Lord, endures forever;
Do not forsake the works of Your hands.

2.2.  ISRAEL FAILED OFTEN BY DESPISING THE PROMISE.

Psalms 106:24
Then they despised the pleasant land;
they did not believe his promise.

3.  CELEBRATE THE GIVER OF THE PROMISES.

3.1.  HE DOES NOT CHANGE.

Psalms 89:34
My covenant will I not break,
nor alter the thing that is gone out of my lips.

3.2.   HE IS FAITHFUL.

2 Timothy 2:11-13
Here is a trustworthy saying:
If we died with him,
we will also live with him;
if we endure,
we will also reign with him.
If we disown him,
he will also disown us;
if we are faithless,
he remains faithful,
for he cannot disown himself.

3.3.   HE HAS A TRACEABLE RECORD.

Joshua 21:45
Not one of all the Lord’s good promises to Israel failed; every one was fulfilled.

3.4.    JOSHUA TESTIFIES.

Joshua 23:14
“Now I am about to go the way of all the earth. You know with all your heart and soul that not one of all the good promises the Lord your God gave you has failed. Every promise has been fulfilled; not one has failed.

4.  PARTAKE WITH ABSOLUTE CONSCIOUSNESS THE BREAD AND CUP.

1 Corinthians 11:23-26
For I received from the Lord what I also passed on to you: The Lord Jesus, on the night he was betrayed, took bread, and when he had given thanks, he broke it and said, “This is my body, which is for you; do this in remembrance of me.” In the same way, after supper he took the cup, saying, “This cup is the new covenant in my blood; do this, whenever you drink it, in remembrance of me.” For whenever you eat this bread and drink this cup, you proclaim the Lord’s death until he comes.

4.1.  STAY AWAY FROM THE NEUTRALIZING CUPS.

1 Corinthians 10:18-22
Consider the people of Israel: Do not those who eat the sacrifices participate in the altar? Do I mean then that food sacrificed to an idol is anything, or that an idol is anything? No, but the sacrifices of pagans are offered to demons, not to God, and I do not want you to be participants with demons. You cannot drink the cup of the Lord and the cup of demons too; you cannot have a part in both the Lord’s table and the table of demons. Are we trying to arouse the Lord’s jealousy? Are we stronger than he?

JESUS WORK IN PEOPLE – DAY 7

JESUS WORK IN PEOPLE

JESUS WORK IN PEOPLE

It is interesting to note the different crowds that gathered around JESUS from the beginning of his public life till his resurrection.
Before the miracles are seen and reported, JESUS to the people of his day was just another regular Jewish Rabbi. It is fascinating to see the changing nature of the crowds as the savior progresses with His work

JOHN AND THE CHANGING CROWDS

1.   CROWDS OF THE INITIAL MIRACLES

John 6:2
and a great crowd of people followed him because they saw the signs he had performed by healing the sick.

Sings and wonders are part of the Gospel. The exhilarating experience  of seeing nature bow to the commands of our GOD. Lives being transformed before one’s very eyes. The blind receiving their sight, the lame bones, muscles and ligaments straightened and leaping with joy.   It must have been mind boggling for the locals to see people they’d written off as sickly and even dying suddenly get a new lease of life. The energy, the excitement, it must was contagious.

The miracles were a statement of love and a foretaste of great things to come. They prepared the crowds to hear and receive the Words of Life.  Faith also responds to such stimuli.  As long as this crowd would listen attentively, now that their attention had been caught by the acts of matchless Mercy, The future now held great promise. A different Rabbi had come. A new day had dawned.

1.1.   THE BREAD CROWDS

John 6:5
When Jesus looked up and saw a great crowd coming toward him, he said to Philip, “Where shall we buy bread for these people to eat?”

1.2.   THE VIVA CROWDS – THE GRANT CROWDS

John 6:14-15
After the people saw the sign Jesus performed, they began to say, “Surely this is the Prophet who is to come into the world.” Jesus, knowing that they intended to come and make him king by force, withdrew again to a mountain by himself.

The old English describes the word ‘king’ simply as one who ‘can’. Kings were expected to have ability to achieve many things. To lead their troops to victory in the time of war. To lead their subjects into seasons of prosperity. They were expected to possess the wisdom to decide over difficult cases brought to their attention by their people. They were like super humans it their people.

Israel was on the look out for such a leader. One who can! One who could drive out the Roman Empire and restore the fortunes of Israel. They were heavily taxed and their dignity under the foreign rule was trampled upon  mercilessly.  Their hopes were rising, This Rabbi was not only healing the sick but even bread was made galore, surely  the economy of Israel was could once again see a revival of the Solomon proportions where supplies and money were as common as stones.

2 Chronicles 1:15
The king made silver and gold as common in Jerusalem as stones, and cedar as plentiful as sycamore-fig trees in the foothills.

Looking at the miracle of bread multiplied,  surely one could be excused for fantasizing about a future of abundance under the rulership of this Rabbi once turned king.  Why delay. After the miracle of the bread they wanted him as their Commander in chief. How convenient.

THEY FOLLOWED BECAUSE OF THEIR STOMACHS

John 6:25-27
When they found him on the other side of the lake, they asked him, “Rabbi, when did you get here?” Jesus answered, “Very truly I tell you, you are looking for me, not because you saw the signs I performed but because you ate the loaves and had your fill. Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. For on him God the Father has placed his seal of approval.”

What a rebuke for all the free lunch hopefuls! They were instructed on the power of priorities. To place in first place spiritual well-being over belly comforts and appetites. Some got it others failed the test

2.  THE DIVIDED CROWD

John 7:12
Among the crowds there was widespread whispering about him. Some said, “He is a good man.” Others replied, “No, he deceives the people.”

2.1.  THE SKEPTICAL CROWD – GREAT DOCTRINE BUT FROM WHO-KNOWS-WHERE

John 7:15
The Jews there were amazed and asked, “How did this man get such learning without having been taught?”

Look at the assumptions! Was He not taught? They could hardly accept He had come from the Father but already they were making conclusions as to his knowledge base.

2.2.   THE SWEARING CROWD – THEY TALK BACK AT THEIR KING

John 7:19-21
Has not Moses given you the law? Yet not one of you keeps the law. Why are you trying to kill me?” “You are demon-possessed,” the crowd answered. “Who is trying to kill you?” Jesus said to them, “I did one miracle, and you are all amazed.

2.3.  THE POLITICALLY CORRECT CROWDS – THEY PLAY TO THE SWAY OF THE ANTI- JESUS AUTHORITIES

John 7:25-27
At that point some of the people of Jerusalem began to ask, “Isn’t this the man they are trying to kill? Here he is, speaking publicly, and they are not saying a word to him. Have the authorities really concluded that he is the Messiah? But we know where this man is from; when the Messiah comes, no one will know where he is from.”

NB. THEY WERE KEEPING AWAY FROM PUBLIC AFFIRMATION OF THEIR FAITH IN JESUS, NOT BECAUSE THERE WAS ANY LACK IN THE TEACHINGS AND MIRACLES – THEY JUST PREFERRED TO BE ACCEPTABLE IN THE EYES OF THE ACCEPTABLE MAJORITY!

2.4. THE PROGRESS IN THE DIVISION

John 7:31
Still, many in the crowd believed in him. They said, “When the Messiah comes, will he perform more signs than this man?”

John 7:40-43
On hearing his words, some of the people said, “Surely this man is the Prophet.” Others said, “He is the Messiah.” Still others asked, “How can the Messiah come from Galilee? Does not Scripture say that the Messiah will come from David’s descendants and from Bethlehem, the town where David lived?” Thus the people were divided because of Jesus.

SEE AND APPRECIATE PROGRESS EVEN IN THE MIDST OF CHALLENGES.

EVEN THE TEMPLE GUARDS BELIEVED

John 7:45-47
Finally the temple guards went back to the chief priests and the Pharisees, who asked them, “Why didn’t you bring him in?” “No one ever spoke the way this man does,” the guards replied. “You mean he has deceived you also?” the Pharisees retorted.

AUTHORITIES RESORTED TO MANIPULATION – A CURSE. . .

WHAT COULD A RELIGIOUS JEW FEAR MORE!

2.5. THE DEEPLY SELF DECEIVED CROWD

John 8:31-33
To the Jews who had believed him, Jesus said, “If you hold to my teaching, you are really my disciples. Then you will know the truth, and the truth will set you free.” They answered him, “We are Abraham’s descendants and have never been slaves of anyone. How can you say that we shall be set free?”

IN FACT THE REST OF THE CHAPTER REVOLVES  AROUND JESUS SHOWING THEM THEIR TRUE COLORS. . . .

John 8:44
You belong to your father, the devil, and you want to carry out your father’s desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, not holding to the truth, for there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks his native language, for he is a liar and the father of lies.

2.6.  THE MOCKING CROWD

John 11:34-37
“Where have you laid him?” he asked. “Come and see, Lord,” they replied. Jesus wept. Then the Jews said, “See how he loved him!” But some of them said, “Could not he who opened the eyes of the blind man have kept this man from dying?”

3.  THE RESURRECTION CROWD – THE ULTIMATE BARRIER

3.1.   THE CROWD THAT BENEFIT FROM HIS VOICE

John 11:42
I knew that you always hear me, but I said this for the benefit of the people standing here, that they may believe that you sent me.”

John 11:45
Therefore many of the Jews who had come to visit Mary, and had seen what Jesus did, believed in him.

3.2.  THE CROWD THAT WAS INTRIGUED BY THE LAZARUS PHENOMENON

John 12:9-11
Meanwhile a large crowd of Jews found out that Jesus was there and came, not only because of him but also to see Lazarus, whom he had raised from the dead. So the chief priests made plans to kill Lazarus as well, for on account of him many of the Jews were going over to Jesus and believing in him.

3.3.   THE BREAKTHROUGH CROWD – THEY WENT PUBLIC WITH THEIR PRAISE

John 12:12-15
The next day the great crowd that had come for the festival heard that Jesus was on his way to Jerusalem. They took palm branches and went out to meet him, shouting, “Hosanna!” “Blessed is he who comes in the name of the Lord!” “Blessed is the king of Israel!” Jesus found a young donkey and sat on it, as it is written: “Do not be afraid, Daughter Zion; see, your king is coming, seated on a donkey’s colt.”

3.4.   THE WITNESSING CROWD

John 12:17
Now the crowd that was with him when he called Lazarus from the tomb and raised him from the dead continued to spread the word.

John 12:28-30
Father, glorify your name!” Then a voice came from heaven, “I have glorified it, and will glorify it again.” The crowd that was there and heard it said it had thundered; others said an angel had spoken to him. Jesus said, “This voice was for your benefit, not mine.
